| Job scope summary: | The basis of the role is to carry out electrical planned preventative maintenance and occasional breakdown maintenance of infrastructure on systems and equipment within power inverter environments. To be familiar with electrical applications such as Current and Voltage Sensors, Power Inverters, AC/DC circuits, LV/HV, Air Conditioning and Optical Isolation. The role will require skills in reading circuit diagrams, fault diagnosis, software interface controls and some small scale project management. This role requires the jobholder to of take command of work handed down by the field service manager. |
| Responsibilities: | - Perform site surveys as requested by Project Managers and Applications Engineers.
- Perform site Power Quality testing and prepare reports for external clients or internal ASC Sales and Marketing Department.
- Perform failure analysis and root cause studies of premature component failures and formulate the actions necessary to match component reliability.
- Perform economic analysis of services offered by Field Service Dept to achieve optimum customer satisfaction.
- Perform on-site commissioning of D-VAR, PQ-SVC systems and inverter components and control electronics for domestic and international customers.
- Train customer in operating and maintenance practices as appropriate for system type
- Assist Engineering. & Manufacturing with factory testing of new units.
- Assist Sales & Marketing team with the new product development process. Present FS suggestions to corporate, based on knowledge of system operations at customer sites to improve product or reduce costs.
- Responsible for modifying documentation pertaining to each customer unit including schematics, user manuals, safety practices, etc, to reflect actual site/installation conditions.
- Ability to specify, review, and implement specialized maintenance procedures for field installations.
- Manage the field change order process for the FS Dept.
- Monitor customer units using the DAS (Database Acquisition System) and remote monitoring systems as Predictive Maintenance tools to foresee problems and develop solutions before they affect the customer. Interact with customer representative to solve problems that need to be handled remotely. As necessary, travel to the customer site to maintain high reliability.
- Provide written communications regarding customer units. Produce, distribute, and maintain files containing service reports after each on-site visit. Maintain files and write monthly reports for each unit detailing carryovers. Produce and distribute weekly reports to ASC management on current field service activities.
- European travel required. Travel time anticipated 70 % per month.
- Ability to oversee and perform trend analysis of the field service database.
- Ability to carry a Field Service pager 25% the time.
- Other duties assigned.
- Maintain inventory levels of parts
- Schedule routine maintenance with customer.
- Schedule startup/commissioning activities to maintain product delivery commitments.
- Follow company purchasing authorization procedures

| Experience required: | 5-7 years experience in an electrical power, electronics environment, and communication systems. Experience can be substituted for educational requirements. |
| Education: | Engineering degree or Higher National Diploma in a technical field |
| Skills / Qualification: | - Working knowledge of electrical power circuits.
- Working knowledge of power electronics.
- Ability to read circuit diagrams
- Computer knowledge in a Windows environment,
- Basics in PLC
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Self directed and motivated
- Stress resistant in difficult situation on construction sites.
- Ability to work both in teams and independently.
- Could work in International Teams
- Appreciates attention for detail.
- Basic knowledge of NEC and IEEE standards for electrical installations BS and IEC Standards, IEE 17th Edition BS
- Distribution voltage experience highly desired.
- Medium voltage safety training required, or must be completed prior to field assignments.
- Knowledge of Health and Safety Standards in the U.K.
- Work up to 1000V in AC and 1000 DC Electrical Equipment or willing to learn
- Supervise subcontractors
